Automated Assessments Extensions Tool

Adam Blank, CalTech

This is a tool for automatically granting and tracking student extensions on homework assignments. The policy is configurable so that students who exceed a threshold will not get extensions, per the policy set for the course. This tool looks exceptionally useful and I think its presentation will be a valuable contribution to the conference. My primary concern/interest is how this is integrated with either the LMS or identity management (e.g., OAuth) to manage logins/accounts, and also general configuation/deployment (and any costs of running this, if there are any).

Hands-on Lab Kit Demonstrating Quantum Cryptography (Key Distribution)

Olivera Grujic, CSU Stanislaus

This exercise is a hands-on assignment implementing/executing a quantum cryptography algorithm. The exercise requires hardware that can be 3D printed. To demonstrate the algorithm, two students flip coins to generate filters, with the first student sending on their coin flip results. Presumably this is what the hardware allows them to do. This sounds like a great activity and potentially a lot of fun. I think it would be a welcome addition. The description of the hardware is a bit high level, and the photo is a bit difficult to evaluate, so I don’t feel that I know what is involved in the setup. That will presumably be addressed in the presentation.
