Information on Tutorials, Workshops, Panels, Nifty Assignments, and Lightning Talks and Submissions
Tutorial / Workshop
- The main purpose of a workshop or tutorial at a conference is to provide attendees with a focused, in-depth, and practical learning experience.
- A tutorial is designed to provide comprehensive, foundational knowledge on a specific topic for those new to it or looking to deepen their understanding.
- A workshop is a highly interactive session where participants work together to solve problems, develop skills, or create new ideas.
Tutorial / Workshop Submission Instructions:
- Send an email to: Christian Servin
with the following information:
- Subject: CCSC:SC Tutorial / Workshop Submission
- Include the following in your message:
- Presenter's name
- Presenter's email address
- Presenter's contact phone number
- Presenter's university affiliation
- Title of tutorial or workshop
- Time frame of presentation
- Short description of tutorial or workshop (1 paragraph)
- Equipment needed for presentation
- All tutorial / workshop submissions must be emailed by Monday, February 27, 2026 .
- Notifications will be sent Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Accepted Tutorial / Workshop Instructions
- All accepted submissions must upload a final description through ConfTool by Monday, March 9, 2026.
The title of the submission must include [WORKSHOP] or [TUTORIAL] as prefix.
- All presenters must sign the copyright release document and create a .pdf of the document for upload.
- All presenters MUST register by Monday, March 9, 2026, and present in person in order to have their presentation published in the Journal for Computing Sciences in Colleges.

Accepted tutorials and workshops are published in the Journal for Computing
Sciences in Colleges which is included in the ACM digital library.
Panels
- The main purpose of a panel is to provide value to the audience by offering a multifaceted look at a particular subject.
- The moderator asks a series of curated questions to the panelists, encouraging them to interact with each other and delve into the topic.
- The moderator opens the floor to questions from the audience, allowing for direct engagement and a more interactive experience.
Panel Submission Instructions
- Send an email to: Christian Servin
with the following information:
- Subject: CCSC:SC Panel Submission
- Include the following in your message:
- Panelists names with University Affiliation
- Moderator's name, University Affiliatione and mail address
- Moderator's contact phone number
- Title of Panel
- Time frame of Panel
- Short Description of Panel (1 paragraph)
- All Panel submissions must be emailed by Monday, February 27, 2026 .
- Notifications will be sent Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Accepted Panel Instructions
- All accepted submissions must upload a final description through ConfTool by Monday, March 9, 2026.

Nifty Assignments
- Nifty Assignments are limited to 15 minutes.
- Nifty Assignments are projects, homework exercises, course assignments that are unique or interesting and challenging for students.
- Nifty Assignments spark discussion and provide useful artifacts for attendees to incorporate into their courses.
- Proposals for Nifty Assignments are reviewed by the program committee and are included with the conference materials but not published in the Journal.

- Include the following in your message:
- Presenter's name
- Presenter's email address
- Presenter's contact phone number
- Presenter's university affiliation
- Title of assignment
- Short description of Nifty Assignment (1 paragraph)
- All Nifty Assignment submissions must be emailed by Monday, February 27, 2026 .
- All Nifty Assignment presenters must register by Monday, March 9, 2026 for the conference and present in person.
- Notifications will be sent Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Lightning Talk
- Lightning Talks are limited to 5 minutes.
- Lightning talks describe ideas, collaborations, current works in progress, and/or opportunities for collaboration.
- Lightning talks often spark discussion and provide critiques among those presenting and attending.
- Proposals for Lightning Talks are reviewed by the program committee and are
included with the Conference materials but not published in the Journal.
